Another busy day, starting with a good ol debridement. If you are interested in seeing what that process was like every morning, click the video below. It's not pretty, but insightful nonetheless.

If you watched the video, you briefly heard me mention having a nightmare. During the night, I had my first "flashback.” I was back in the house...suffocating, burning up, and blinded by the heat and smoke. Suddenly the sound of an explosion and glass shattering. The moment I realized I was all alone...Jason wasn't with me. "JASON!" Just as frantically as I screamed his name at that moment, I found myself calling it over and over in my hospital bed. I couldn't separate reality from a dream...that's how real it was.
The night shift nurse runs in and does her best to assure me that I'm not in the house anymore and that Jason and I are safe. The conversation that she and I have next is a powerful one...one that you will read about in the book ; )
After my eventful morning, Jay’s surgeon came to fill me in on what had transpired throughout the evening with Jay. During the night, Jay’s blood pressure became dangerously low. He had lost a significant amount of blood hours after his (first) surgery. He had become unstable and required three blood transfusions. On top of that, they were able to identify two aggressive bacteria in his blood. He had become septic. The concern was that the bacteria would cause his grafts not to take.
Because Jay was unstable, they didn’t want any additional action in his room. But they allowed me to sit with him for a few minutes, with a nurse present. His blood pressure was very low, and his resting heart rate was 199 beats per minute. Just as before, when Jason heard my voice...everything came back into balance.
His blood pressure rose, and his heart rate lowered. The two things that needed to be corrected.
Again, The Lord used my voice to administer medicine that only God could have given him.
The Great Physician stepped in.
Once I got settled back into my bed, it was time to address this bacterium with prayer.
What do you do when your husband is fighting for his life? You go to war.
Maija, my mom, and I entered right into prayer (along with our prayer warriors).
For about 25 minutes, we prayed, worshiped, and just allowed the presence of the Holy Spirit to come and move in the burn unit.
Wherever the presence of the Lord is, a miracle can happen. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. We stood on that. We created an atmosphere for the hand of God to move.
There was no place for fear! Now we are waiting for the report in the morning...
Head over to our PODCAST page and listen to episode 5 that coincides with this post!
Here are some more photos from the day with my mom and Maija.
